Stephen John McGlede (born April 13, 1969 ) is a retired Australian cyclist .

Athletic career

At the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul , Stephen McGlede won the bronze medal with the Australian four-four ( Brett Dutton , Dean Woods , Wayne McCarney ). In 1990 he became world champion in points driving at the World Track Championships in Maebashi and finished third in the team pursuit together with Darren Winter , Brett Aitken and Mark Kingsland . In the same year he won bronze in the scratch over ten miles at the Commonwealth Games in Auckland and finished second in the overall standings at the Circuit Franco-Belge . In 1991 he was runner-up in the points race in Stuttgart behind Swiss Bruno Risi. In 1992 McGlede won the silver medal in the team pursuit at the Olympic Games in Barcelona , along with Shaun O'Brien , Brett Aitken and Stuart O'Grady .
