Gerlossteinbahn
The Gerlossteinbahn is an aerial cableway based on the principle of the aerial tramway , which runs from Hainzenberg in Tyrol ( Austria ) to below the Gerlosstein at an altitude of 1643 meters.
The cable car was built in 1960 and renovated in 1988. The valley station is at an altitude of 930 meters, the difference in altitude to the mountain station is 713 meters. The route length is 2269 meters. The greatest gradient of the route is 60%, the mean gradient 33%. The driving speed is 25 kilometers per hour (7 m / s), so that the driving time is a good 6 minutes. The maximum transport capacity is 500 people per hour.
The railway vehicles consist of double gondolas coupled to one another ( group shuttle lift ). Each gondola has a capacity of 27 people, a double gondola therefore 54 people.
The Gerlossteinbahn is in operation in the summer season from the end of May to the beginning of October and in the winter season from the end of December to the end of March (depending on the weather and snow conditions).
Skiing on the Gerlosstein
The Gerlossteinbahn serves as a feeder to the ski area of the same name which is part of the Zillertal Arena . The Gerlossteinbahn and all other cable cars in the ski area are operated by Zeller Bergbahnen GmbH & Co KG.
