The Gerlosstein is a 2166 m above sea level. A. high mountain in the Zillertal Alps in the Austrian state of Tyrol , the surrounding area is open to tourists.
Surroundings
The mountain is located south of the Gerlos Pass . Neighboring mountains in the southeast are the 2,452 meter high Torhelm and the 2,700 meter high Brandberger Kolm .
Tourist development
The Gerlossteinbahn is a cable car from Hainzenberg up to an altitude of 1643 m. From there, the summit can be reached on hiking trails and a via ferrata . The via ferrata leads through the Gerlossteinwand (limestone-gneiss wall) on the north side of the Gerlosstein above Zell am Ziller. The distance is 380 m and there are 240 m altitude meters to be mastered. The Gerlosstein is part of the Zillertal Arena ski area . It has a 7 km long toboggan run.
