Zillertal Arena
The winter sports area referred to as the Zillertal Arena by tourism marketing is the largest ski area in the Zillertal . It has 143 kilometers of slopes and 52 lifts that can transport over 85,000 people per hour. It consists of two parts, one with valley lifts in Zell , Gerlos and Königsleiten and a small ski area including a snow tubing run and a 7 km long natural toboggan run with a valley lift in Hainzenberg . Skiing on the slopes is possible up to a maximum height of around 2500 m. The longest continuous valley run leads to Zell am Ziller and is 1930 meters in altitude. The highest elevations in the Zillertal Arena are the transition yoke (2500 m), the Königsleitenspitze (2315 m) and the Isskogel (2264 m).
At the beginning of the 2008/2009 season, a second gondola lift went into operation in Zell, which was extended to the mountain station of the former Karspitz sports lift for the 2010/2011 winter season. The new Dorfbahn in Gerlos has been in operation since 2016, and is the second feeder cableway from the village to the ski area alongside the Isskogelbahn.
