Lydia Boylan (born July 18, 1987 in Dublin ) is an Irish cyclist who is active on the road and track .
Athletic career
Before Lydia Boylan got into cycling, she was racing regatta sailing . Her first major national successes in cycling were on the track : in 2011 she was Irish champion in sprint , 2013 and 2014 in 500 meter time trial and also in 2014 in scratch ; several more times she stood on the podium. In 2014 she started at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow as the representative of Northern Ireland in three disciplines: In the road race she was 21st, in the scratch 14th and in the points race she was 5th.
In 2015 Boylan became national road racing champion . In the same year she won at the track European Championships in Switzerland Grenchen together with Melanie Spath , Josie Knight and Eimear Moran Irish foursome finished sixth in the team pursuit . In 2017 she won the silver medal in two-man team driving at the European Railway Championships in Berlin together with Lydia Gurley and was Irish road champion. Two years later, at the UCI Track World Championships 2019 in Pruszków , Poland , she was runner-up in the points race .
In 2020 Lydia Boylan and Lydia Gurley qualified for the start in the two-man team driving at the Olympic Games in Tokyo .
Honors
In 2017 Lydia Boylan and Lydia Gurley were honored with the Outstanding Achievement Award from the Irish cycling association Cycling Ireland for their outstanding performance at the European Track Championships .
