Trine Schmidt (born June 3, 1988 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish cyclist who is successful on track and road.
Athletic career
Trine Schmidt was one of Denmark's strongest cyclists in the first decade of the 2000s. In 2003 she took two second and two third places in the Danish track championships, in the elite and junior classes. In 2004 she won two championship titles, in the scratch on the track and in the individual junior time trial on the road. At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing , she crashed in the points race and finished 18th.
By 2009 Trine Schmidt had won numerous other national titles on the road and rail. Her greatest international success was the runner-up world title in the points race in Manchester in 2008 under the supervision of the German trainer Heiko Salzwedel . In addition, she achieved numerous stage wins and top places in road races. In 2009 she finished second behind Jeannie Longo-Ciprelli at the Chrono des Nations .
In 2011 Schmidt ended her cycling career, but returned in 2016 and finished second in the individual time trial at the Danish road championships. The following year she became national champion in the single pursuit and in the scratch on the track. In 2017 she won two European Championship titles on the track in points race and scratch. At the 2019/20 Track Cycling World Cup in Hong Kong , she won the two-man team with Julie Leth .
