Sofía Arreola Navarro (born April 22, 1991 in Monterrey ) is a Mexican cyclist who competes in races on track and road .
Before Sofía Arreola started cycling at the age of 14, she practiced various other sports, such as shooting and swimming . A year later she won her first national championship title. After she had won six gold medals at Pan-American cycling championships as a junior and had finished fourth at the UCI Junior World Championships in Moscow in 2009 , she was invited to the Center Mondial du Cyclisme of the World Cycling Association UCI in Aigle, Switzerland .
At the UCI Track World Championships 2013 in Minsk , Arreola won two silver medals, one in scratch and one in points . She is the third female athlete from Mexico to win a medal at World Track Championships, after Belem Guerrero and Nancy Contreras . So until 2016 ( Ignacio de Jesús Prado was runner-up in the scratch world championship ), all previous Mexican track cycling championship medalists were women.
In the years that followed, Sofía Arreola won numerous medals in competitions in various endurance disciplines on the American continent. In 2016 and 2017, for example, she was Pan-American runner-up in the team pursuit with a Mexican foursome. Several times she also took places among the top ten at UCI track world championships .
