Kristel Werckx

Kristel Werckx (born December 16, 1969 in Heusden-Zolder ) is a former Belgian cyclist .

In 1986 Kristel Werckx became Belgian youth champion in road racing , and vice-junior champion the following year. In 1988 she became Belgian women's runner-up in road races and won the Paris-Bourges race . In the same year, she started in the road race at the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 and finished 23rd.

In 1990 Werckx was third in the points race at the World Track Championships in Maebashi, third in the Belgian road championship and second in Paris-Bourges . At the World Track Championships in Stuttgart she finished second in the points race and at the games in Barcelona second place in the road race and ninth place in the single pursuit . In 1991 and 1993 she was the Belgian road champion.

Kristel Werckx is married to cyclist Cédric Mathy , bronze medalist in the points race at the 1992 Olympic Games.
