UCI B World Championships
The UCI-B World Championships were track and road world championships organized by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), the world cycling association for athletes from countries where cycling is still developing. Rail and road world championships took place between 1997 and 2003 at the same time in the same place.
The B World Championships have been held every two years since 1997; the first event was in Ipoh, Malaysia . Through these world championships, cyclists from cycling “developing countries” should have the opportunity to compete with other athletes of the same sporting level. In addition, individual athletes could qualify for the Olympic Games at these world championships. Since the last event in 2007, these tasks have been assigned to the continental championships, also to enhance their importance.
