UCI Road World Championships for Juniors

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The UCI Road World Championships Juniors ( UCI Juniors Road World Championships ) are Cycling World Championships in road cycling for juniors and from 1987 for juniors, so athletes 17 to 18 years.

The organizer is the World Cycling Federation Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI).

In 1973 in Munich and 1974 in Warsaw there were European junior championships in single road driving and in 1974 also in 70 km team time trial, which are considered to be the forerunners of the junior world championships, as non-Europeans were also at the start.

From 1975 to 1996 and from 2005 to 2010 the Junior World Championships in rail and road driving were held in one region as a joint event. From 1997 to 2004 and then from 2011 the road competitions were held together with the world championships of the elite.
