Oskar Nikolai Birger Svendsen (born April 10, 1994 in Lillehammer ) is a former Norwegian road cyclist .

Athletic career

Oskar Svendsen was Norwegian champion in the individual time trial in 2012 in the junior class . At the Junior World Championship he also won the time trial title. In 2013 he received his first contract with an international cycling team , the Norwegian Continental Team Joker Merida . In his first year there he won the team time trial at the Circuit des Ardennes and finished fifth in the overall standings at the Tour de l'Avenir .

Svendsen was seen as a great talent, but was not up to the pressure of expectations. After a season with injuries and illnesses, he ended his cycling career in 2014 and started studying.

Miscellaneous

At Svendsen, a study by the University of Lillehammer measured 97.5, one of the highest VO2max values ​​in a competitive athlete. This exceeded the value of the cross-country skier Bjørn Dæhlie .
