Andreas Lux
Andreas Lux (* 2. October 1964 in Leipzig , † 19th April 2020 ) was a German cyclist and DDR -Master in cycling .
Athletic career
Lux started for the SC DHfK Leipzig . With his height of 1.90 meters he was one of the most noticeable drivers in the peloton. His first major success was winning the UCI Road World Championships for Juniors in the team time trial in 1982 with Uwe Ampler , Jens Heppner and Jan Gloßmann . In the individual race of this world championship, he finished second. From 1983 he started in the GDR performance class of the men of the GDR Cycling Association . With the Lausitz Cup he won a smaller stage trip and was nominated for foreign starts in the tours in Tunisia and Poland . With sixth place in the Tour of Poland he achieved a respectable success, which also remained his best place in a tour of the country during his entire career. Also in 1983 he did his first tour of the GDR , which he finished in 45th place. A 30th place in the overall ranking in 1986 was his best result in this tour.
In 1985 he won the GDR championship title in the team time trial with his Leipzig club with a new GDR record, although Lux had to cover almost the entire distance with a defective rear wheel. He did other country tours in the Netherlands , Slovakia , Austria , Cuba , Belgium and Bulgaria . At national level he won some traditional races like 1986 and 1987 around the brown coal and 1985 Berlin-Leipzig.
Like almost all road drivers in the GDR, Lux also started on the track in the Werner-Seelenbinder-Halle in Berlin. There he won the "International Two-Team Championship" in 1988 with Jan Schur as a partner. He ended his career in 1990.

Andreas Lux was the son of the German cyclist and trainer Günter Lux , who was active in the 1960s.
