Jan Gloßmann

Jan Gloßmann (born February 11, 1964 ) is a former German cyclist and world champion in cycling .

Athletic career

Gloßmann was a member of SC Cottbus , where he was trained by Eberhard Pöschke. Jan Gloßmann won the UCI World Championships in team time trial for juniors in 1982 with Uwe Ampler , Jens Heppner and Andreas Lux .

He won the GDR championship in 1983 in the team time trial on the road with his club mates Frank Jesse , Detlef Ernst and Rüdiger Perka . In 1984 he was second and a year later third in this championship. When he started in the GDR Tour , 32nd place in 1985 was his best place. Gloßmann started several times for the GDR national team on tours in the Netherlands , Yugoslavia , Tunisia (with a stage win), Romania , Austria , Morocco  and Belgium . The 14th place in the Tour of Tunisia in 1985 was his best result in these events. He ended his career in 1987.

Professional

After his career, Gloßmann worked as a journalist for the Lausitzer Rundschau and as a press officer for the city of Cottbus .
