Detlef Ernst

Detlef Ernst (* 1964 ) is a former German cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

Ernst was active in the GDR and had his first international assignment at the UCI Road World Championships for Juniors in 1981; he was used in the road race and classified there as 29th. In 1982, his first year in the men's performance class, he and the SC Cottbus team were GDR champions in the team time trial together with Bernd Drogan , Frank Jesse and Michael Münnich . He started in the GDR tour and was 30th overall. In 1983 his club managed to defend its title at the championships. In 1984 he was able to finish the Rund um Berlin race in the top group when Bodo Straubel won , after which he ended his career.
