Dora Carral
Dora Carral (* 1935 ) is a Cuban opera singer ( soprano ).
Life
Dora Carral began her stage career in her Cuban homeland in the early 1950s. In 1953 she was the partner of Ann Ayers and Eugene Conley as Siebel in Faust . In 1954 she sang in a performance of Bastien and Bastienne .
However, her career then developed mainly in Italy in the 1960s . She was a member of the "Opera da Camera di Milano", with which she played Proserpina in the Monteverdi opera L'Orfeo , a. a. next to Anna Reynolds as Messaggera, appeared in Versailles and made guest appearances at the Festival in Aix-en-Provence and at the International World Exhibition in Osaka .
1962–1963 she appeared at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino as Clorinda in La Cenerentola and as Sister Genovieffa in Suor Angelica from Puccini's Iltretico . She has made guest appearances on various Italian stages and performed in the concert hall with arias by Mozart , Galuppi and Scarlatti , but also with Schubert songs. She participated in numerous RAI operas . She continued her career into the 1970s.
Carral's voice is documented in numerous complete opera recordings, which were mainly made between 1962 and 1967. Under the direction of Lamberto Gardelli , she sang Fenena in a Nabucco recording that was recorded in Vienna in 1965 and was released by Decca . She also recorded many smaller parts for the record, such as the servant Annina in La Traviata (Decca 1962, at the side of Joan Sutherland and Carlo Bergonzi ). There are also live recordings by RAI of the operas Temistocle by Johann Christian Bach (May 1976) and Crispino e la comare by Luigi and Federico Ricci (July 1977).
For Cuban television, she sang the title role in Madama Butterfly in an opera adaptation in 1960 .
