Alexandru Pliușchin ( Cyrillic Александр Плюшкин ; born January 13, 1987 in Chișinău ) is a former Moldovan cyclist .

Career

Juniors

Alexandru Pliuşchin won the bronze medal in scratch at the 2004 junior track cycling championships in Los Angeles and was thus able to attract international attention at a young age. In 2005, when he was able to become European champion in the single pursuit on the track, he achieved his first important successes on the road, where he competed for the Swiss team GS Schumacher: Among other things, he came second in the overall ranking of the Giro di stage race Toscana (juniors), won the one-day races Classique des Alpes (juniors) and Giro del Mendrisiotto (juniors) and secured the silver medal in the individual time trial at the junior road cycling world championship in Salzburg .

U23

During his first season in the U23 age group in 2006, Pliuşchin won the Upper Fricktal Grand Prix and also came second in the overall ranking of the Alsace Tour . After it became known that a "non-negative" doping test for Salbutamol was present at this stage race , the Synergy Baku Cycling Project , which had signed him for the 2015 season , suspended him . He was banned until September 1, 2015. After his suspension, he took part in the European Road Championships and finished 32nd in the individual time trial . He did not start in the subsequent road race . After that, no more international results are available.
