Igor Decraene (born January 26, 1996 in Waregem , † August 30, 2014 in Zulte ) was a Belgian cyclist .

In 2012 Igor Decraene finished third in the Belgian youth championship in the individual time trial . The following year he became Junior World Champion in time trial in Florence . He also won the renowned French time trial Chrono des Nations in the junior class and became national junior champion in this discipline. The following year he was able to win the Belgian time trial title again. 2014 he had to contend with injuries, however, was for the 2014 UCI Road World Championships in September in Spanish Ponferrada nominated. He was considered one of the most hopeful talents in Belgian cycling, and for 2015 he already had a contract with the Omega Pharma-Quick-Step youth team .

On the night of August 30, 2014, Decraene was run over by a train in Zulte and fatally injured. His club, the Tieltse Rennersclub , announced that Decraene had died in a "serious accident". Belgian media reported, however, the 18-year-old had suicide committed. A toxicological examination revealed that he was heavily drunk at the time of his death. Ultimately, it could not be determined whether the accident was suicide or an accident; Decraene's family, however, ruled out suicide.

At the road world championships that took place three weeks later, the start number one was not awarded in the junior time trial in memory of Decraene. In memory of him, the athletes of the Tieltse Rennersclub will in future wear the Igor logo on their jerseys. In December 2014, the Belgian national coach Carlo Bomans created the Trofee Igor Decraene for the best Belgian junior time trial. Symbolically, the first trophy was given to the parents of Decraene.
