Jakob Steigmiller (born January 1, 1990 in Biberach an der Riss ) is a former German track and road cyclist .

Athletic career

In 2007 Jakob Steigmiller became German junior champions in the team pursuit with Ralf Matzka , Michael Riedle and Christopher Schmieg . In 2008 he was runner-up in the junior individual time trial in Cape Town, South Africa . At the Junior European Championships in Pruszków , Poland , he won three bronze medals, in the single pursuit , in the two-man team driving (with Thomas Juhas ) and in the team pursuit (with Thomas Juhas, Johannes Kahra and Theo Reinhardt ). At the Tour de Berlin , he finished third in the U23 category. The following year he took second place in the overall ranking of the Tour of Thuringia .

In 2011, Steigmüller was provisionally suspected of doping because he - like many other athletes - had his blood treated with UV rays by sports medicine specialist Andreas Franke at the Erfurt Olympic base . The National Anti-Doping Agency Germany acquitted Steigmiller in September 2012 because the treatment objectively represented the use of an unauthorized method, but he was not at fault. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) confirmed this decision in October 2012.

In 2012 Steigmiller was with the foursome at the track world championships , with which he missed the qualification for the Olympic Games .

After the 2012 season, Jakob Steigmiller ended his career as an active competitive athlete. He announced that he would like to study English and sports in Cologne (as of January 2014).
