The Olympic Training Center in Thuringia has been a cross-disciplinary support and service facility for top-class sport for national team athletes and their coaches since 1991 .
history
The OSP Thuringia was founded on June 20, 1991 with the convening of the first board of trustees meeting in Erfurt. The former world-class high jumper Rolf Beilschmidt was appointed the first head of the newly founded OSP . The sponsoring organization of the OSP, the Olympic Training Center Thüringen eV , was founded on the same day and the then President of the Sports Federation of Thuringia , elected Manfred Thiess as its chairman.
The OSP Thuringia is currently one of 18 German Olympic bases .
Outline and structure
Locations
The headquarters of the Olympic training center is located at Johann-Sebastian-Bach-Straße 2 in Erfurt. Other sports complexes or branches of the Olympic base are located in its five performance centers in Erfurt (athletics, cycling, speed skating, figure skating), Oberhof (Nordic skiing, biathlon, bobsleigh, luge, skeleton), Jena (wrestling, athletics), Gera (cycling ) and Suhl (shooting, weightlifting).
Sports and areas of focus
Around 200 federal cadre athletes (ABC cadre) from several Olympic sports are looked after by the OSP Thuringia.
tasks
The OSP Thuringia offers holistic sports medicine, physiotherapy, training science, sports psychology and social support for all national team athletes.
Elite schools of sport
The Pierre-de-Coubertin-Gymnasium Erfurt , the Sportgymnasium Oberhof and the Sportgymnasium "Johann Christoph Friedrich GutsMuths" Jena are connected to the Olympic base as elite schools of sport .
