Infras is a Swiss research and consulting company founded in 1976 on sustainable development .

history

Samuel Mauch and the later two national councilors Ursula Mauch and Elmar Ledergerber founded Infras in 1976. It was triggered by the predictions of the Club of Rome that the global economy would collapse if it was not possible to limit the consumption of resources . The founders were convinced that the complex problems associated with this could only be solved through networked thinking. You played a key role in the NAWU report “Ways out of the prosperity trap”. This is seen as a guide for sustainability research in Switzerland.

Research studies by Infras have repeatedly shaped the political discussion in Switzerland . B. to sustainable development , to the shifting of freight transport and the building of the NEAT , the true costs in transport , to energy policy , the environmental tax reform, or more recently to the work-life balance or reforms in the health system .

activity

Infras is a research and consulting company and is organized as a stock corporation based in Zurich and Bern . The company is wholly owned by the management and employees. Infras employs an interdisciplinary team of around 50 scientists (as of 2017). It prepares studies for public and private clients and supports projects at home and abroad.

The studies and projects are intended to provide the public sector with a basis for decision-making in politics and administration in the areas of transport , energy , the environment , economy and society . The studies are usually open to the public.
