The Olympic Training Center in Berlin since 1987, a sport-wide support and service unit of elite sports for athletes and their coaches national squad.
history
In 1987 the Berlin Olympic Training Center was founded by the sponsoring association of the Berlin Olympic Training Center . The OSP Berlin is currently one of 18 German Olympic bases .
Outline and structure
Locations
The headquarters of the Olympic training center is located at Fritz-Lesch-Straße 29 in 13053 Berlin . This is where the Sportforum Berlin is located. Other locations are at the Europa Sport Park sports complex (including the swimming and diving hall in the Europa Sport Park ), the Grünau sports complex, the Olympiapark sports complex , the Hohenzollerndamm sports complex and the Kienbaum sports center .
Sports and areas of focus
Around 500 federal cadre athletes (ABC cadre) from over 30 Olympic sports are looked after by the OSP Berlin. The following 23 Olympic sports are recognized as major sports at OSP Berlin: basketball, beach volleyball, archery, boxing, ice hockey, figure skating, speed skating, handball, hockey, fencing, weightlifting, judo, canoe racing, karate, athletics, modern pentathlon, cycling, rowing, Swimming, sailing, gymnastics, volleyball, water polo and diving.
tasks
The OSP Berlin offers a holistic, sports medicine, physiotherapy, training science, sports psychology and social support program for all national team athletes in Berlin. In addition, the OSP Berlin with around 35 permanent employees, around 10 honorary staff and over 20 trainers directly employed by the OSP takes on the following tasks:
- Control of the development of Berlin's main sports from the youngest to the world's elite, in coordination with the state sports association and other partners (example: the OSP agrees regional concepts and cooperation agreements with the top sports associations, which are then implemented in the daily support work at the OSP).
- Support of the Berlin elite schools of sport and the partner institutions in the even more efficient interlinking of competitive sports training and school education (example: the OSP and the regional team ensure that the living conditions of the athletes are improved in the athletes' house, right up to for sports-appropriate nutrition).
- Regulation of cooperation agreements with universities and other colleges as well as training institutions so that students and trainees receive conditions that are compatible with top-level sport and competitive sport can be optimally combined with professional training (example: the OSP coordinates the co-financing of operating and maintenance costs by the federal government from the training facility funding program in 19 out of 40 competitive sports training facilities in Berlin. These funds are awarded to the operators of the sports facilities via the OSP and help to secure the necessary training conditions).
- Influence on a needs-based provision of training times in the sports facilities (example: the OSP establishes and initiates necessary construction and renovation projects as well as measures for the structural maintenance of individual sports facilities).
Elite schools of sport
Three sports elite schools with boarding schools are connected to the Olympic base in Berlin: the Berlin School and Competitive Sports Center at the Sportforum Hohenschönhausen , the Flatow Oberschule at the Großer Müggelsee and the Poelchau School at the Olympic Park.
