The Brandenburg Olympic Training Center (OSP) is a cross-sport support and service facility for top-class sport for national team athletes and their coaches with training facilities in Cottbus , Frankfurt (Oder) , Luckenwalde and Potsdam .

The sports facilities in Frankfurt (Oder) were built in 1973 and completely renovated after the fall of the Wall. On October 3, 1990, the Märkische Oderzeitung published the news under the heading “Frankfurt (Oder) becomes Olympic base” that one of six Olympic bases in the area of ​​the former GDR was being built in Frankfurt (Oder). In 1997 the sports center in Frankfurt (Oder) was supplemented by the newly built Brandenburg Hall .

Training facilities Cottbus

The cycling as a priority sport of the DOSB on OSP Cottbus, the involvement of the sport BMX -Head and the increased number of cyclists led in 2014 to a required construction of a new cycling athletics hall in the sports center Cottbus. For this purpose, the former boxing training hall was converted for cycling and supplemented by an extension.

Olympic base in Potsdam

The Olympiastützpunkt Potsdam is an institution that deals with the support and advice for top athletes, but also intensively with young talent in competitive sports. It is located in Potsdam on the site of the former airship port in Potsdam , directly on the banks of the Havel.

As can be seen from the history of competitive sports in Potsdam, the focus of its work is on canoeing , rowing , wrestling , athletics and swimming . Even in the GDR era , top athletes were trained here in cooperation with the DHfK in Leipzig , which then took top positions at world and European championships and also at the Olympics .

Here, centrally controlled, performance concepts are also created which, when implemented, have a performance-oriented and performance-promoting effect on the athletes. As the name suggests, top athletes from the individual associations, for example the DLV, are prepared for international competitions through intensive application of scientific results. For this purpose, specially trained and specially qualified state support point trainers are used to promote talented students and to select and further develop top performers in top sport.

For this purpose, the OSP is equipped with modern stimulation systems such as a canoe counter-current system, swimming counter-current system, rowing box system inside a building, several treadmills and bicycle ergometers and many others. For this reason, the sports promotion group of the Bundeswehr currently trains here with 35 of their athletes, but also the players of the 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam .

Merger to form the Brandenburg Olympic Training Center

In December 2008, the Olympic training centers Cottbus / Frankfurt (Oder) and Potsdam were merged to form the Olympic training center Brandenburg. This laid the foundation for uniform competitive sports management in the state of Brandenburg . The new structure is intended to simplify administration, make career advice more professional as well as quality control based on uniform standards.
