The Olympiastützpunkt NRW / Rheinland in the Landessportbund NRW eV is a cross-sport support and service facility for top-class sport for national squad athletes , outstanding state squads and their coaches.

history

The Olympic base was initially founded in 1987 by the Society for Preventive Medicine and Sports Medicine Research and Further Education before it was registered on January 22, 1990 as the Olympic base in Cologne-Bonn-Leverkusen and thus as an independent association.

The combination of research and strong associations was the nucleus of the success story of the Rhineland Olympic base. The research work of the Institute for Circulatory Research at the German Sport University Cologne and the personal commitment of its director, Prof. Dr. Dr. hc mult. Wildor Hollmann, was optimally integrated into the training process of the strong clubs via the Rhineland Olympic base, e.g. B. TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen , TSV Bayer Dormagen and SSF Bonn are involved.

Over the years, on the one hand, the fields of support have expanded more and more, on the other hand, the original model became interesting for more and more clubs and sports. In this respect, the renaming to Olympiastützpunkt Rheinland in 2007 followed the requirements of the current care area. At the beginning of 2019, the Olympiastützpunkt Rheinland, like the Olympiastützpunkt Westfalen and the Olympiastützpunkt Rhein-Ruhr, became the sponsorship of the Landessportbund Nordrhein-Westfalen e. V. and since then has been called the Olympic Training Center NRW / Rhineland. The declared common goal is to increase the track record through further top performances and to make the fascination of sport more intensely tangible in society.

The head of OSP NRW / Rhineland is Daniel Müller.
