Jukka Vastaranta (born March 29, 1984 in Tampere ) is a former Finnish cyclist .

Athletic career

In 2001 Jukka Vastaranta secured the overall victory of the Junior Cycling World Cup . A year later, at the UCI Road World Championships in 2002 in Zolder , he won the silver medal in the junior road race behind Arnaud Gérard and thus took third place in the overall ranking of the junior cycling world cup.

In his first year in the adult sector in 2003, Vastaranta received a contract with the Rabobank TT3 youth team, for which he won the Flèche Ardennaise in 2003 and a stage of the Olympia's Tour in 2004. In the same year he became Finnish champion in the individual time trial . For the 2015 season, Vatsaranta moved to the UCI ProTeam Rabobank . In June he was able to win a stage of the Ster Elektrotoer .

After Vastaranta only drove on the road for smaller teams from 2007 to 2010 , he devoted himself more to mountain bike races and became a multiple Finnish champion in the disciplines of cross country and marathon .
