Lucy van der Haar , née Garner (born September 20, 1994 in Leicester ) is a British cyclist .

Athletic career

Lucy Garner started cycling at the age of nine. In 2011 soe became junior world champion in road racing . In the same year she won the Cheshire Classic race . Also in 2011 she won three gold medals at the Commonwealth Youth Games on the Isle of Man , in road races, in team and individual time trials ; in the criterion she won bronze.

In 2012 Garner was again world champion in the juniors and junior European champion in road racing. She also won the title of Junior European Champion in the team pursuit on the track , together with Amy Roberts and Elinor Barker . On the track, she also won the national title in the single pursuit . In 2013 she won a stage of the Tour of Chongming Island , in 2015 one of the Route de France Féminine .

In 2020, Lucy van der Haar won the first edition of the Dubai Tour for women.

Private

Lucy Garner has been married to cyclocross rider Lars van der Haar since July 2019 and adopted his name; the couple lives in Woudenberg , the Netherlands ( as of 2020 ). Her sister Grace is also active as a cyclist.
