Mirella van Melis (* 8. January 1979 in Venhorst , North Brabant ) is a former Dutch cyclist who on the road , the railway , as well as cross-country race was active.

Athletic career

At the beginning of her cycling career, Mirella van Melis mainly drove cyclo-cross races. In 1997 she won the title of junior world champion in road racing . The following year she was two-time Dutch champion on the track, in the 500-meter time trial and in the sprint . At the European Road Championships in the same year, she finished third in the road race. In 1999 she was European champion (U23) in the points race and again national sprint champion. In 2001 she became European champion (U23) in road racing. At the end of the 2004 season, she resigned from active cycling.
