Laurine van Riessen (born August 10, 1987 in Leiden ) is a Dutch speed skater and cyclist .
Athletic career
Speed skating
In the World Cup van Riessen launched for the first time in the 2006/07 season . There she achieved a top 10 placement as eighth over 500 meters. At the Dutch Championships in 2006 she also achieved good placements, and she also won the Junior European Championships. In the following season 2007/08 van Riessen ran only in one race with the team, which they finished eighth.
Van Riessen began the 2008/09 season in Berlin with her first podium finish in the A group by finishing third over 1000 meters. At the World Cup in Changchun , he again took third place over 1000 meters. A day later, she also won her first World Cup victory over 1000 meters. She finished the season in third place in the 1000 meter World Cup. In the following season she came in second place over 1000 meters at the World Cup in Erfurt . At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , she won the bronze medal over 1000 meters. At the World Cup finals of the 2010/11 season in Heerenveen , she again achieved a podium finish with third place over 1000 meters. In the 2011/12 season, she won her second World Cup victory in Salt Lake City over 1000 meters and took third place in Heerenveen over 500 meters. She finished the season in sixth place in the World Cup over 1000 meters. The following season she reached third place over 1000 meters at the World Cup finals in Heerenveen. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , she was eleventh over 500 meters.
During her career, van Riessen also became a junior world champion in the team when she won gold at the all-round championship together with Ingeborg Kroon and Natasja Bruintjes . At that championship she was also second in the mini four-way fight. In addition, in March 2007 she set a junior world record over 1000 meters. In the October 2015 aristocracy calendar , she is ranked 160th.
Van Riessen was also able to win several international events such as the Olympic Oval Final.

Cycling
In 2014 van Riessen announced that in future she would combine her activities as a speed skater with racing in track cycling . Her goal is to participate in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro . In March 2015 it was announced that the contract with her previous speed skating team Lotto-Jumbo was not renewed; since then, cycling has been a top priority for van Riessen. After the successful participation in track racing in the United States it started in October 2015, the railway European Championships in Switzerland Grenchen and won together with Elis Ligtlee bronze in the team sprint . At the end of December 2015 she became the three-time Dutch champion in the sprint , keirin and 1000-meter time trial , and in 2016 she won the sprint title again.
In 2016 Laurine van Riessen was nominated for participation in the track cycling competitions at the Olympic Games in Rio. In the Keirin she finished ninth, in the sprint 15th. Together with Elis Ligtlee, she was fifth in the team sprint. The following year she became Dutch sprint champion for the third time in a row and also won the Keirin title.
