Ronny Scholz (born April 24, 1978 in Forst (Lausitz) ) is a former German cyclist .

Career

Scholz's career as a cyclist began in 1990 at RSV Peitz , where he took part in a license race for the first time. From 1994 he drove regularly for the German national team. During his junior years, he moved to RSC Cottbus in 1995 , where he drove track and cross races in winter and road races in summer . In 1997 he changed the club again, this time to ISPO Lotusan Cottbus, where he decided to only contest road races.

From 2001 to 2008 Scholz drove for the UCI ProTeam Gerolsteiner and ended his career in 2009 with Team Milram . His greatest successes were a stage win and second place overall at the Regio Tour 2003, sixth place overall at the Critérium International and victory in the one-day race around Nuremberg Old Town in 2005. He competed in eight Grand Tours , including five times the Tour de France . His best Tour de France placement came in the 2004 Tour de France in 53rd place.

Scholz is the son-in-law of his former team boss Hans-Michael Holczer .
