Achim Schneider (water polo player)

Hans-Joachim "Achim" Schneider (born July 31, 1934 in Duisburg ) is a former German water polo player .

Achim Schneider was a striker with the Duisburg swimming club from 1898 , with which he became German champion in 1958, 1961 and 1962 . At the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956, he participated in six games. Four years later he scored nine goals in seven games at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome. Achim Schneider took sixth place with the German national team in both Olympics . Achim Schneider later moved to 1. FC Nürnberg . After his active career, he was a water polo coach in Gelnhausen .

Achim's father Hans also took part in the Olympic Games as a water polo player.
