Hans Schneider (water polo player)

Hans-Joachim Schneider (born October 21, 1909 in Duisburg ; † July 19, 1972 there ) was a German water polo player .

Hans Schneider was a striker at the Duisburg swimming club from 1898 , with which he became German champion in 1939, 1940 and 1941. At the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin, he took part in all seven games and scored 22 goals. Among other things, he scored both goals in the final game against Hungary, which ended 2-2. Hungary received the gold medal because of the better goal difference, Germany won silver. At the European Championships in 1938, Schneider received silver behind the Hungarians with the German national team . In total, Schneider took part in 55 international matches for Germany.

His son Achim also took part in the Olympic Games as a water polo player.
