Helmut Nonn

Helmut Nonn (born October 18, 1933 in Mülheim an der Ruhr ) is a former German hockey player . He won an Olympic bronze medal in 1956.

At the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne, Helmut Nonn and his brother Wolfgang took part in all five games. After the team had reached a goalless draw against the eventual Olympic winners Pakistan, they lost 1-0 in the semi-finals against the Indians. In the game for the bronze medal, the Germans won 3-1 against the British.

For this he and the national hockey team were awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf on May 21, 1957.

Helmut Nonn was also part of the German squad at the 1960 Olympic Games and achieved seventh place with the team. Overall, Helmut Nonn played 50 international matches from 1956 to 1964.

With Uhlenhorst Mülheim , Helmut Nonn was German champion in 1954, 1955, 1957, 1958, 1960 and 1964. From 1981 to 1988 he was chairman and since 1989 he has been honorary chairman of the HTC Uhlenhorst.
