Magdolna "Magda" Nyári-Kovács (born July 1, 1921 in Budapest ; † May 4, 2005 ibid) was a Hungarian foil fencer .

successes

Magda Nyári-Kovács achieved numerous international successes, especially with the team. At world championships she won the title with this in 1952 in Copenhagen , 1954 in Luxembourg , 1955 in Rome , 1959 in Budapest and 1962 in Buenos Aires . In addition, she achieved second and third place four times with her. In singles she was able to reach the podium once when she won bronze in Stockholm in 1951 . Nyári-Kovács took part in three Olympic Games . In 1952 in Helsinki she finished eighth, four years later in Melbourne she was eliminated in the preliminary round. At the Olympic Games in Rome in 1960 , she did not get beyond the semi-finals in the individual. With the Hungarian team she reached the final against the Soviet Union , to which she was defeated 3: 9. Together with Lídia Dömölky-Sákovics , Katalin Juhász , Györgyi Székely-Marvalics and Ildikó Ujlakiné-Rejtő she won the silver medal.
