Hans Zierold
Hans Zierold (born April 16, 1938 in Zeitz ) is a former German swimmer .
He was successful at the national level from 1956 to 1960 and took part in two Olympic Games . He initially started for the GDR , but moved to the Federal Republic of Germany in April 1958 after politically motivated maneuvers by the sports officials of the GDR .
Hans Zierold was 1.91 m tall and had a competition weight of 93 kg.

- 1956: GDR champion 400 m freestyle; 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne : 5th place 400 m freestyle, 5th place 4 x 200 meter freestyle relay
- 1957: GDR champion 400 m freestyle, 1500 m freestyle, 4 x 200 meter freestyle relay
- 1958: German champion 400 m freestyle, 200 m freestyle, 1500 m freestyle
- 1959: German champion 200 m freestyle and 1500 m freestyle
- 1960: German champion 200 m butterfly; 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome : 7th place 400 m freestyle
