Theo Püll

Theo Püll (born September 30, 1936 in Viersen ) is a former German high jumper . The eleven-time German champion competed in two major international championships with the all-German team.

Püll took third place at the German championships in 1955. In 1956, Püll won the title both indoors and outdoors. In 1957, Püll only won outdoors. From 1958 to 1961 he won both outdoors and indoors. Püll improved the German record twice: In October 1958 he jumped 2.07 m in Saarbrücken, in July 1960 he set this record in Cuxhaven.

At the European Championships in Stockholm in 1958 , he finished fifth with 2.06 m. Two years later, Püll reached the final of the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome and came seventh with 2.03 m.

Püll began his career with LG in 1947 Viersen and moved to VfL Wolfsburg in 1960 . With a height of 1.86 m, his competition weight was 74 kg. Püll married the all-rounder Ute Spitzkowsky and they have two children. Püll later headed the ship cleaning company established by his father-in-law in Bremerhaven.

For his services to sport in Lower Saxony , he was accepted into the Lower Saxony Sports Honor Gallery of the Lower Saxony Institute for Sports History in 1988.
