Hans Hüneke

Johannes "Hans" Hüneke (born January 12, 1934 in Schwalenberg ; † August 14, 2015 in Dernbach ) was a German athlete and Olympic participant who won the bronze medal in the 3000 meter obstacle course at the 1958 European Athletics Championships - starting for the Federal Republic of Germany won (8: 43.6 min). He also started at the 1960 Olympic Games , where he gave up injured in the 3000 meter obstacle course in the final.

On August 3, 1958, he set a German record in Kassel with 8: 37.4 minutes. In 1959 he won the championship title in the 3000 meter obstacle course, after finishing second in 1957 and third in 1958. Also with the 3 × 1000 m relay of VfL Wolfsburg, Hüneke was German champion in 1958. Hüneke achieved further championship titles in cross-country skiing during the winter season : in 1965 he was German champion, in 1956, 1957 and 1963 he took third place. In the team classification he was champion in 1956, 1962 and 1964, second in 1963 and third in 1957.

Hans Hüneke first started for OSV Hörde , then from 1957 and 1958 for VfL Wolfsburg , from 1959 to 1962 for Solinger LC , from 1963 to 1964 for KSV Hessen Kassel and then until his career ended in 1966 for Emmericher TV . During his competition time he was 1.68 m tall and 50 kg.
