Helmut Anschütz

Helmut Anschütz (born July 13, 1932 in Dresden ; † October 8, 2016 ) was a German sword fencer . As a member of the men's epee team, he took part in the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome . He fought at the Aachen fencing club.

successes

At the 1960 Summer Olympics, Anschütz shared fifth place with Paul Gnaier , Fritz Zimmermann , Dieter Fänger , Georg Neuber and Walter Köstner after losing to the Soviet Union in the quarter-finals. In 1961 he was sixth at the Student World Championships in Sofia .

His brother Klaus Anschütz was also an active fencer and was a long-time director of the Fechtsport Gummersbach association .
