Bärbel Fuhrmann (born March 29, 1940 in Breslau , after marrying Bärbel von Fircks in 1962 ) is a former swimmer from the GDR . She was third in the 1960 Olympics with the individual relay.

Bärbel Fuhrmann from SC Empor Rostock took second place on the 100-meter butterfly course at the GDR swimming championships in 1959, behind Jutta Langenau . From 1960 to 1962 she was GDR champion on this location, in 1963 and 1964 she took second place behind Ute Noack . In 1963 Bärbel von Fircks won the GDR title over 200 meters butterfly.

Bärbel Fuhrmann set two GDR records in 1959 with 1: 14.2 min and in 1960 with 1: 11.4 on the 100-meter butterfly route. As Bärbel von Fircks, she set a GDR record over 200 meters butterfly in 1963 with 2: 37.3 minutes.

In Rome at the 1960 Olympic Games , Bärbel Fuhrmann retired on their special route in the preliminary run. The 4 x 100 meter relay with Ingrid Schmidt , Ursula Küper and Bärbel Fuhrmann from the GDR and the FRG freestyle specialist Ursel Brunner swam in 4: 47.6 minutes to third place behind the US relay and the Australians.

After her sporting career, Bärbel von Fircks was senior teacher and later deputy director of the 3rd special school in Rostock.
