Karl-Ernst Schottes (born April 21, 1935 in Düsseldorf ) is a former German athlete who specialized in hurdles , but also competed in the decathlon .

biography

At the age of 19, Karl-Ernst Schottes won the bronze medal over 110 m hurdles at the German Championships in 1959 . Five years later at the German Championships in Stuttgart , he succeeded again. The following year he was runner- up in the same discipline and was allowed to travel to the Olympic Games in Rome . There he also started over 110 m hurdles , but was eliminated in the quarterfinals. In total, Schottes took part in 18 international battles for the Federal Republic of Germany. After his active career, he stayed in athletics as a coach.
