The Bouquetinsbiwak is a refuge of the Swiss Alpine Club section Val de Joux in the Valais Alps in the canton of Valais in Switzerland .
Location and operation
The bivouac is in the back of the Arolla valley, east of the Arolla glacier at 2980 m above sea level. M. . It is operated by the Val de Joux section of the Swiss Alpine Club and is not manned.
history
Built in 1975, the octagonal wooden bivouac with the stove in the middle offers a view of the Haut Glacier d'Arolla and the surrounding peaks of Mont Collon and Bouquetins . It is an overnight place for ascents, the crossing over the glaciers into the Italian Valpelline and the Haute Route between Zermatt and Chamonix.
Approaches
- From Arolla over the Haut Glacier d'Arolla (normal route) in 4 ½ hours, ascent 1150 meters in altitude, level of difficulty T4.
- In winter on skis: from Arolla in 3 hours, difficulty level L.
