The Mont Collon is a mountain in the Pennine Alps in the canton of Valais . It rises to the west of the Matterhorn south of Arolla ( Val d'Hérens ). The mountain has a height of 3637 m and is near the border with Italy . Southwest of the mountain is the Petit Mont Collon ( 3556 m ). The L'Evêque rises south of Mont Collon with two 3716 m and 3672 m high peaks. To the southeast of L'Evêque lies the glaciated pass of the Col de Collon 3130 m , over which a pass leads from Arolla to Val Pelline.
The first ascent of Mont Collon was on July 31, 1867 by the Englishman Georg Edward Foster with the guides Hans Baumann and Johann Kronig.
