Günther Ullerich

Günther Ullerich (born April 30, 1928 in Berlin , † November 28, 2007 in Cologne ) was a German hockey player who took part in the Olympic Games three times and won a bronze medal.

Ullerich played for Rot-Weiss Köln . In 1951 he made his debut in the German national hockey team . At the Olympic Games in 1952 , the team was eliminated in the quarter-finals against the later Olympic champions from the Netherlands . Four years later, the German team reached the semi-finals at the Olympic Games in Melbourne , where the team lost to the Indian team ; In the bronze medal game, the Germans won 3-1 against the British.

For winning the bronze medal in Melbourne in 1956, he received - together with the German Olympic hockey team - the Silver Laurel Leaf on January 21, 1957.

At his third Olympic participation in Rome in 1960, Ullerich and the German team lost to the later Olympic champions from Pakistan in the quarter-finals and finished in seventh place. Overall, Ullerich played 58 international matches from 1951 to 1961.

Ullerich was buried in the family grave in Cologne's southern cemetery (hall 37 no. 61/62).
