Konrad Enke (SC Rotation Leipzig) won the 200 m breaststroke in 2: 41.5 minutes on August 2, 1956

Konrad Enke (born July 23, 1934 in Pößneck ; † November 13, 2016 ) was a German swimmer. He was one of the best breaststroke swimmers in the GDR.

Career

On August 11, 1959 Konrad Enke, who competed for the SC Rotation Leipzig , swam over 200 m breaststroke with 2: 38.4 minutes, a new European record and also a world best. After the end of high-performance sport, he became active in TSV 1858 Pößneck, developed training methods, promoted the child and youth spartakiad and promoted the work of youngsters. Later he took over the swimming courses and was still active in this club.
