Arthur Hannemann (born October 23, 1935 in Bochow ) is a former German athlete . He competed in medium and long-distance running as well as in cross-country running .

biography

Hannemann won the silver medal in the individual and the gold medal in the team competition at the GDR championships in 1958 and 1960 in cross-country running. At the Olympic Games in Rome in 1960 he started over 1500 m , but was eliminated in his prelim. In 1962 he was able to secure the national championship title over 5000 m . In his second Olympic participation at the 1964 Summer Games in Tokyo , Hannemann started in the 10,000 m race , in which he finished 27th.

Hannemann was a sports teacher by profession and served as an officer in the National People's Army .
