Roselore Sunday (* 6. February 1934 in Geringswalde as Roselore Stöbe ) is a former German gymnast devices. She took part in the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome. She also enjoyed great success as a gymnastics trainer.

Life

In 1952, Roselore Stöbe, who was still single at the time, first took part in the Saxon Artistic Gymnastics Championships. Two years later it made a name for itself throughout the GDR for the first time. Still starting for Lok Ost Leipzig, she became GDR champion on uneven bars. In 1956 she proved that this achievement was not a flash in the pan. Meanwhile starting for the SC Lokomotive Leipzig , Roselore Stöbe was 3 times GDR champion in all around, on the ground and on the uneven bars. She was married to the Leipzig gymnast and later gymnastics trainer Henry Sonntag from 1957 on and secured ten GDR championship titles by 1960, including three in all-around competitions. By 1962 there were also six runner-up titles and three third placings. Internationally, Roselore Sonntag took part in the gymnastics world championships in 1958 and 1962 as well as in the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome. While she finished between 21 and 64 in the individual disciplines, she achieved a remarkable 6th place in the team competition. Within the Olympic selection, which consisted only of gymnasts from the GDR, Roselore Sonntag was the second strongest athlete behind Ingrid Föst . With the birth of their first son Heiko in 1963, Sunday's active career ended.

From then on she worked as a trainer at SC Leipzig and from 1969 as a national team trainer. In the period that followed, her protégés such as Erika Zuchold , Karin Janz , Kerstin Gerschau and Steffi Kräker achieved successes at world championships and the Olympic Games. The greatest successes are the 3 medals from Karin Büttner-Janz and the silver medal in the team competition at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich. Her husband had success as a trainer for Sven Tippelt in the 1980s .

The mother of two now lives with her husband at their parents' home in Geringswalde.
