John Albert Pelling (born May 27, 1936 in London ) is a former British sword fencer .

successes

John Pelling first won bronze in the team competition of the world championships in Paris in 1957 , before he was also runner-up with the team in Paris in 1965 . He took part in the Olympic Games twice: at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome , he and the British team reached the final unbeaten, in which Italy prevailed 9-5. Together with Michael Alexander , Bill Hoskyns , Raymond Harrison , Allan Jay and Michael Howard , Pelling received the silver medal. In the individual, he was eliminated in the second round. In 1964 he finished ninth with the team in Tokyo . At the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in 1962 in Perth and 1966 in Kingston , Pelling won the silver medal in the individual competition and the gold medal in the team competition. In 1961 and 1965 he was British champion.
