Michael John Peter Howard (born December 24, 1928 in London ) is a former British fencer .

Michael Howard won bronze in the team competition of the World Championships in Paris in 1957 . He took part in the Olympic Games three times : in 1956 in Melbourne he was eliminated from the individual competition with the epee in the second round, while he just missed a medal win with the epee team in fourth. At the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome , on the other hand, he moved unbeaten to the final with the British epee team, in which Italy prevailed 9-5. Howard received the silver medal together with Michael Alexander , Bill Hoskyns , Raymond Harrison , Allan Jay and John Pelling . In 1964 he finished ninth with the Degen team in Tokyo , with the Saber team he did not get past the first round. Howard won the gold medal in the team competition at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Cardiff in 1958 and in Perth in 1962 . In 1958, he secured silver in the individual.
