Karl Raphael Dorr (born as Karl Dominik Alois Rudolf Dorr , born August 10, 1905 in Brunn am Gebirge , † March 5, 1964 in Vienna ) was the cathedral priest in the cathedral parish of St. Stephan in Vienna

Life

Karl Dorr is the son of Rudolf Dorr , an elementary school teacher in Maria Enzersdorf , and Christine Leeb .

Act

Karl Raphael Dorr played a major role in the reconstruction of St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna after its destruction at the end of the Second World War . In 1948 he was appointed pastor of the cathedral. Dorr initiated the construction of the canon crypt in the catacombs . It was built in 1963/1964 in the new part of the catacombs. He was the first to be buried there. Since the system was very humid at the time, it was rebuilt in 1966 under the cathedral master builder Stögerer in its current state. Dorr's coffin was also transferred here.

Dorr's sermons were also known.

Appreciation

Two memorial plaques were placed on the outside of St. Stephen's Cathedral. In his birthplace Brunn, Dorrstrasse was named after him.
