Guram Kostawa ( Georgian გურამ კოსტავა ; English Guram Kostava ; born June 18, 1937 in Tbilisi , Georgian SSR ) is a former Georgian sword fencer who competed for the Soviet Union.

successes

Guram Kostawa's greatest success was winning the World Championships in Turin in 1961 and in Montreal in 1967 with the team. With her he was also second in 1959 and 1966 and third in 1965 . In individual he won the bronze medal in 1963 and 1965. Kostawa took part in the Olympic Games twice: in 1960 in Rome he was eliminated from the individual competition in the preliminary round, and with the team he secured bronze. At the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo , he won the bronze medal in singles behind Hryhorij Kriss and Bill Hoskyns . In the team standings, he finished seventh with the Soviet Union.
