Lothar Stäber (born April 1, 1936 in Erfurt ) is a German racing cyclist who competed for SC Dynamo Berlin / Sportvereinigung Dynamo .

Athletic career

The greatest success of his career, along with other titles, was winning the silver medal at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome in the men's 2000 m tandem race with Jürgen Simon . In the Velodromo Olimpico both had to admit defeat to the Italian team with Giuseppe Beghetto and Sergio Bianchetto .

In the post-Olympic year of 1961, Lothar Stäber and his new partner Senger were East German champions in tandem driving ahead of the Jürgen Simon / Konrad Irmschler duo .
