Heidi Eisenschmidt , married Heidi Zimmermann (born November 14, 1941 in Gera ) is a former German swimmer .

Career

Eisenschmidt that for Marx Stadt Karl SC bismuth launched, won the swimming Länderkampf Bulgaria DDR in Erfurt on 1 July 1956 with the 4 x 100 meters layers relay team. At the GDR championships in 1958, she won the silver medal behind the team from SC DHfK Leipzig with the 4 × 100 meter butterfly relay and the 4 × 100 meter individual relay relay and the gold medal with the 4 × 100 meter back relay . A year later she celebrated another victory with the back relay, as well as another medal success with bronze over 100 meters back.

At the Olympic Summer Games in Rome in 1960 , Eisenschmidt only competed over the 100 meter butterfly, but was eliminated in the third heat as third and thus missed the final. At the GDR swimming championships in 1960, a few months later, the Chemnitz woman won the silver medal over the 100 meter butterfly before winning the title for the third time in a row with the 4 × 100 meter back relay.

Her daughter Kathrin Zimmermann was also a successful swimmer and multiple GDR champion and Olympic silver medalist.
